Cycling with Inntravel
Leisurely discovery on two wheels
We’ve been offering cycling holidays since the late 1980s, and have always had great reports about them. The approach is similar to that of our much-loved walking programme – these holidays are for individuals, not groups, enabling you to explore entirely at your own pace.
‘My reacquaintance with the bicycle has been organised by Inntravel, which arranges hotel-to-hotel packages, transferring your bags, so that all you need to carry with you are essentials such as waterproofs, snacks, camera and sunscreen. You ride unguided, but notes are provided on all the routes.' – Catalan Coast & Villages, Scotland on Sunday
Take your time
A typical day may see you setting off on your bicycles at around 10, after a late breakfast and a chat with the hotelier about the best spot for lunch. Admire the views of the distant hills as you warm up for the day with a descent past orchards and sleepy hamlets. You pass a wayside chapel, surrounded by colourful wild flowers, then come to the next village, where you stop to browse around the market and find a pavement café for a morning coffee. Then it’s another hour's cycling, a little more energetic now, through rolling hills to reach the river and your recommended restaurant for a tasty lunch with a glass or two of wine. Your hotelier gave good advice! The afternoon’s highlights are an exhilarating stretch along a particularly beautiful riverside lane, and wonderfully rewarding views from a charming hill-top village. Then it’s a final invigorating hour through undulating countryside, reaching the next hotel at around 5. Time for a quick dip in the pool, a refreshing beer on the terrace, before a delicious dinner of local cuisine. Just another perfect day's cycling …
Discover beautiful landscapes
We’ve selected regions that are perfect for a week of exploration on two wheels. We offer a wide choice of holidays that are suitable for everyone, whether you enjoy longer rides, love short cycles in the hills, or just pedal occasionally to the local shops. You stay in hotels offering comfort, hospitality and excellent cuisine. We transport your luggage from hotel to hotel, so you cycle light. Your bike will be modern and well-maintained, with full back-up if you need assistance. Whether you wish to pedal along the country lanes of Mallorca, explore the handsome hill-top towns of Tuscany, immerse yourselves in the tranquillity and charm of rural France, or discover the unique landscapes of Slovenia, we’ll be delighted to help you find your ideal cycling holiday.

These are holidays to enjoy by yourselves, with the full freedom of independence, but in the knowledge that every detail has been take care of:

Cycle as much (or as little!) as you like
We plan all our routes carefully, making sure that they are interesting and enjoyable, with quiet roads wherever possible, and very much for the ‘amateur’ cyclist. On every day, we make sure you have plenty of time to explore, rest and sightsee as you wish. You usually stay two nights in each hotel en route, allowing you to enjoy the occasional ‘rest day’ or to choose your preferred circuit. We recommend extra nights to enjoy the holiday even more, or why not add on a city hotel at the end of your cycling trip?
Some routes offer more challenges than others, so we grade them to help you decide which is best for you:
• Grade 1 Easy for all – mainly flat, some gentle ascents
• Grade 1-2 Fairly easy – occasional uphill sections
• Grade 2 Moderate – some longer, steady climbs, and longer days
• Grade 2-3 Fairly strenuous – frequent ascents and descents
• Grade 3 Strenuous – long, challenging days (none in our programme, yet!)
