Bernese Oberland

Switzerland at its best

To see Switzerland at its best, you need to travel in summer, down quiet lanes, through flower-filled meadows, beside crystal-clear lakes and beneath towering snow-capped peaks. Fresh air and bright sunshine draw you on from one picturesque village to the next idyllic view, enticing you to explore the mountains or simply sit and breathe it all in. However, active you choose to be, these lakes and mountains seem to have a unique ability to refresh and revitalise. Travellers over the centuries have marvelled at the truly awe-inspiring scenery of the Swiss Alps, and there is certainly a feeling of romance and excitement when surrounded by such grandeur.

Bernese Oberland

The Bernese Oberland is justly famed as the most dramatic region of Switzerland, but the romantic names of the Eiger, Jungfrau and Schilthorn are but part of the story. The Oberland also possesses villages tucked away in the quiet, sheltered valleys, where you will find a special serenity.

> Interlaken Valleys & Villages (grade 2) A spectacular route through the heart of Switzerland, passing Brienzersee and Interlaken where you make a diversion into the high mountains.
