Gastronomic Breaks
Good food is a key element of any Inntravel Short Break, but here we list some of the best gastronomic experiences for a real foodie weekend. Whether youre simply looking for a hotel where you can combine a couple of days leisurely exploration with some of the best cuisine of our selection, or a break with a real gastronomic theme, our Short Breaks programme features some tempting ideas. Among our French Country Hotels are several whose restaurants have earned a Michelin star or bib gourmand, an accolade that is awarded to restaurants which, though not in the same league as Michelin-starred restaurants, for the prices charged nevertheless offer exceptional, well-crafted cuisine, often with an accent on regional dishes. Such hotels include Le Buffet close to Calais, and the Entre Terre et Mer in Honfleur, where we include dinner on the first night of our breaks at the Hotel des Loges and the Cheval Blanc. To sample cuisine that has won a much-coveted Michelin star, you have to travel a little further afield, to the Aux Armes de Champagne in the Champagne village of LEpine. As this is located in a famous vineyard region, you can call in at producers to indulge in a little champagne-tasting during your stay. One hotel-restaurant that has missed out on Michelin acclaim but that we believe deserves a mention anyway, is La Bonne Marmite in Normandy. The dining room is the real focal point of the hotel, and members of staff have enjoyed some delicious - and very imaginative - meals there. The lengthy menu gastronomique is a feast fit for kings! The restaurant of the cosy, frog-themed La Grenouillère is also deserving of its excellent reputation - Roland Gauthier's four-course Saveurs du Littoral menu is guaranteed to excite your taste buds. Our Farmhouse Charm short break includes dinner at La Grenouillère on one night. If you would like a City Break with a gastronomic theme, we recommend you head to Lille and treat yourselves to a dinner at the Michelin-starred A LHuitrière. There, the emphasis is on fish and seafood (we can recommend the sole in a wild mushroom coulis, to name but one mouth-watering dish) served in elegant surroundings. Another city that has celebrated culinary traditions is, of course, Paris; we provide restaurant recommendations in our documentation. ![]() |
