Walking & exploring
in Morocco

Morocco is a wonderful tapestry of colours. In Marrakesh, these range from the brilliant green, blue and white tiles of the mosques to the earthy ochre of the ramparts, and from the rich reds of the carpets to the deep pinks of the flowers in the gardens. In the High Atlas Mountains, brown slopes contrast with both the snow on the peaks and the green valleys far below, while in the desert the amazing quality of the light makes the dunes change from orange, to gold, to yellow... Even the food is colourful, featuring courgettes, aubergines and red peppers.

A different way of life

Our holidays to Morocco reveal a different way of life, one that in many ways has remained unchanged for centuries. The trails that you follow in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains have linked villages since they were built and are still used by muleteers and shepherds. As you walk, you pass men selling goods from baskets strapped to the backs of donkeys, or mining salt as they have done for generations, and women working the fields by hand, gathering firewood or tending to their sheep. Even in the cities - especially in the souks of the medinas - you can feel as if you have been transported back in time.

Flexible itineraries

We offer two seven-night walking holidays with your own guide, both of which start with nights in Marrakesh. For a thrilling fortnight-long holiday that gives you a great overview of the different faces of Morocco, choose our Moroccan Experience, which combines two walking holidays with our City & Sahara journey. Alternatively, you could combine one of the walking holidays with three nights in coastal Essaouira for a complete contrast in scenery. Our reservations team will be happy to advise you on the best combinations.

Our holidays:

> Beneath Djebel Toubkal (7 nights, grade 3)
> Through the Foothills (7 nights, grade 1-2)
> Best of Morocco (14 nights)
